First, the service is top notch in this family run business. You need to try the Buffalo fried shrimp appetizers they are incredible. The hush puppies are out of this world. All other dishes are not so good.

One of the cleanest on 17 that I've been to. Service was warm and friendly. Menu was priced well. Good selection. Local seafood was featured where available. We got the seafood platters; one fried, one grilled. Scallops, not local, but delicious. Fried clams and flounder (local) were yummy too. Hush puppies were great and served with a honey/butter. The crab cakes were totally different even though they probably came from the same box. The fried was delicious and for some reason, they grilled was less yummy. If in the area on vacation, don't pass Hanser House by.

After reading the reviews and gathering suggestions from friends who also vacation in the area, we landed here after a day on the beach. The meal and service did not disappoint. Shrimp and grits times 2, broiled fantail shrimp and shrimp creole were enjoyed. Delightful staff and generous refills all around. Wonderful time.

We ended up at Hanser House because the place we usually go to in Murrell's Inlet was closed. Thanks to the powers of yelp, I found this place just a little further south. Dad ordered the red clam chowder and said "it's good. Different, but good." The homemade thousand island dressing that came with my salad was creamy and had a hint of spice. Mom's senior plate of fried fantail shrimp was plentiful. And the hush puppies were AMAZING. I couldn't stop eating them. Our server Thomas was kind and attentive. Mom even spied him patting a busser on the back while saying "You're doing a great job." We also got a tour of the shell room

Super friendly engaging staff. Be ready with your best stand up material. Also ask about the "shell room" in the back by the bathrooms. We got a special personal tour. We ordered the she crab soup and it was rich and delicious. Don't order a bowl. It's very rich. My wife and I ordered the grilled seafood platter with house salad. My wife got the grits and I got the wild rice. The salad was fresh and crisp and the seafood platter was nearly perfect. Grilled just right, not over cooked, with a nice hint of grilling. The seafood was fresh and tender. The crab cake was slightly undercooked and bready but still good. A definite must visit when in Pawley's Island.

This place was a recommendation from my niece and was truly a great recommendation at that! The hush puppies were great, the shrimp and grits were tasty, and the portions of all of our meals were big enough to have a little left over to take home and reminder us why we would want to make a second trip over there during our vacation!

Good fast service. Had a large party on a holiday weekend and the place was full but everything came out correct and hot. Would go back again.

This restaurant was a wonderful find! They have the best hush puppies I have ever eaten. It's a family owned business. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. We had 2 dinners here in 4 days with plenty of other options available. You won't be disappointed. We'll be back next visit.

I was a little unsure about this restaurant. When we went in and sat down our waitress was completely delightful. Hush puppies were very very very good. The prime rib was probably the best I ever had . The jambalaya was delicious ! The desserts were incredible. The owner even came over the end of the night just to say hello, very nice

This is where we take large groups when visiting Litchfield Beach Resort near Pawleys Island. You can call the same day and reserve a spot for 40. They can handle your group with good fresh fish, seafood and even a steak or ribs. The food with plenty of sides is some of the best in the area. They have a full bar and some local beer. The prices are reasonable for good food. From drinks to deserts your group will enjoy Hanser House.

I am not a seafood fan, so I always get the filet! Always very good! My only issue has been the steak is more on the rare side than medium. Kids meals are awesome and comes with a cool Frisbee plate that my kids always love! Decor is nice, kids love the aquarium!

We enjoyed soup, apps, salads and entrees. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. Can't ask for more !!

Delicious food and friendly service. The hushpuppies are the best I've ever had. We even got to meet the owner, who gave us a tour of his seashell collection. I'd highly recommend giving this place a try!

I really like the location however the service is slow and the sides are small portion. The fish is wonderfully prepared.

My husband and I enjoyed the grilled seafood platter. Just the right amount of seasoning. Not greasy or overcooked. My mother had a fried senior citizens combo and she had as much food or more than we did. Our baked potatoes were a bit too dry and the bill was a little more than I would have liked to have paid, but no one left hungry. The staff was friendly and attentive and the wedding dress on the wall was a creative conversation piece. We'll be back.

Friendly staff. Short wait time. Excellent food. This place has it all and feels more local than tourist. I enjoyed a grilled tuna steak that was cooked perfectly.

We were looking for a restaurant for 20 on a Friday night after golf. They took us at 8pm and we were not sure if it would be a good meal for a bunch of out if towners. I could not have have been more wrong. The atmosphere, food, hospitality and beverages were perfect. The food was Carolina fresh seafood. Soft shell crabs and scallops were awesome. The people here were the nicest people I have come across in a longtime. True southern hospitality. A secret to the tourist and a treasure for the locals. Well worth a 25 minute drive. Thanks granny.

After a not so good experience at a 5 star rated and $$$ restaurant the night before (see my previous review), we decided to try a more family friendly place. Hanser House looked like the place for us. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by the owners - that was neat. We did come late, it was 9pm and they closed at 10. Based on the reviews, we tried the Buffalo Fried Shrimp appetizer. As advertised, it was fantastic. For the main course, the adults tried the fried Scallops and the Shrimp Creole with rice. The kids had the chicken fingers, fries and hush puppies. The Creole was very good, spiced just right. My wife did not care for the Scallops--she thought they had a funny taste. I thought they were pretty good---not the best I have had, but not rubbery. I think maybe we would try the fried ones instead of grilled next time. The kids chicken was plump and moist and flavorful ($5.95). I think they were lightly deep fried with a very good moderate spice coating. Regardless, the kids (ages 6&8) loved them. The fries were strings cut right from the potato, not heated up frozen ones. My son especially loved the included hush puppies. There was so much food, we took Creole and chicken home. The waiter was very attentive and deserved the 20% tip I left. They take American Express. The total for the whole bill after tip was $81 (just water for drinks). If I had one thing they could improve on, the decor probably needs updating. It's a little dated. But hey, did you come for the food or the way the place looks. Go check this place out!

The food was very good. No complaints about the food from our group. The service was slow and a bit disorganized or rushed. Our server didn't bring crackers, horseradish or cocktail sauce with our oysters. Our server didn't stop by our table to check on us, he didn't pre bus. The food delivery was prompt, if we had a better server it would have been a great experience. I would recommend this place to others.

The Good 1. The waitress was nice and did a good job serving our table. 2. The restaurant is spacious. 3. Fried jalapeño grits were tasty. The Not so Good 1. There isn't really a good selection on the menu. 2. The meals are quite pricey for the quality of food. 3. I ordered the shrimp creole with rice. It was basically shrimp tomato soup with little bits if rice.

Great find! Great service and southern hospitality, our family loved the food too! Grannies a hoot, you will have to meet her.

The food was ok nothing special. I did enjoy the sweet hush puppies. The service was great. Friendly waitress. We had a party of ten and she was able to keep up with all of us. Not sure if I would go back or not.

Ate here with the family on vacation, everyone loved it! The hush puppies were awesome. The salads were fresh. A couple people got crab legs and steak. They really liked it. I loved the fried scallops that I got. Will definitely go back. Also our waitress Lisa really made the meal by giving us great service.

This is the best seafood restaurant I ever been to!!!!!!! The food is amazing and the service is great! I currently live in Washington state but travel to and from myrtle beach and this is the first place I have to go to when I get there! Please try it for yourself!

I never like to find fault, but I don't know what else to say. We met two friends here the other night for dinner. We were a little late, but were seated promptly. Drink orders were taken and delivered just fine, but the food was another story. Salad was fine, but our entrees were delivered before the salads were half eaten and they were on the cool side. All were fish dishes and were mediocre at best. We were never offered coffee or desert. With so many good restaurants in the area don't waste your time or money. This place is not cheap.

Ordered oysters as an appetizer, server dropped them off with no horse radish, cocktail sauce, or crackers... Had to sit for another 5-6 minutes before we could reach him to bring everything. All our empty plates are stacked on the table and he has not pre-bussed them so they are stacking up on the table. ....food was wonderful! Very good and we did not leave hungry. So overall maybe just a fluke bad service but worth the food!

Really like the homey touch. Very family-friendly. They even encourage sharing for kids. Food about average. Service is pretty good. Overall I would say it's a very good value.

You gotta get the crab dip. If more than 2 people sharing, do urself a favor & get 2 and extra chips with both. It was soooo good. We ate here twice and enjoyed the food immensely both times. You will not go wrong eating here.

This is a very friendly, family-oriented restaurant with a generous helping of southern charm and hospitality. I have eaten here three times with my loud toddler nephew in tow, and always felt perfectly welcome and comfortable. The food is pretty good, although I wouldn't rave about every dish I've ordered or sampled. That being said, it is definitely a great family place to eat and it has a beachy vacation feel, which is nice.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet! Back in 2010, we had our rehearsal dinner here because they serve up great seafood options and they don't charge an arm and a leg for it! The owners were great in helping me set menu choices using a set menu that I'd drooled over before and they set us up upstairs to give us privacy, which was great! The shrimp and grits, the shrimp creole and of course, the bucket of steamed oysters are all favorites of mine. Especially the oysters- a whole bucket for $13! The hushpuppies are excellent, too, and they keep 'em coming even when you wish they'd stop!! Service is great and parking is easy- def. worth a visit if you have a large family and don't want to spend all of your money on food!

My wife and I ate at The Hanser House looking for some great oysters. The restaurant was very nice the service was excellent. We both got fried oysters and they were not to our taste. I did eat all of mine but they were a little bland. The hush puppies were good though.

We moved from the beach a year ago and stop at the Hanser House any time we are in town. We lived at the beach for 35 years and have tried them all. There are other seafood restaurants just as good, but we like this one because it is never crowded, it is out of the heavy traffic, prices are in line with others and food is consistently good.

Fanastic food, she-crab soup is out of this world. Service is friendly and excellent. Great family place. Did steamed shrimp take-out and that was great too. If you're in the area, make sure you have at least one meal here.

When I come to spend my vacation in beautiful Pawleys Island, SC, I want some good ol' fashioned seafood. I don't always need gourmet. Just a place with authentic low-country offerings. THIS is the place! From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed, regardless if the size of your party is 4 or 14 (as my family's parties often are). The wait-staff treat you so warmly. The food- delicious. Grilled or fried scallops are never rubbery, the sweet tea is refreshing, and every entree my family has ever gotten has been wonderful. The kids' plates even come out on take-home frisbees! Can't wait to come back next year!

Friendly staff, good food, reasonable prices. We thoroughly enjoyed the Caesar salad and the Steamer pot was excellent. Server was trying to be attentive but it seemed like she was in a rush to go home. Asked us if we wanted dessert while we were still enjoying the Steamer Pot then brought us the check before all four of us were finished eating.

Huge menu. It basically covers everything. Started with the oysters on the half shell. It was fresh and good. Enjoyed it very much. I had the grilled blackened flounder. It was flaky and tasty. My wife had the crab cakes and enjoyed it. The kids loved the fried chicken strips and fried creek shrimp. Overall, very surprised at how much we enjoyed this place. Service was very friendly.
